A ‘Pride and Prejudice’ Book Tag

Another day, another book tag, another attempt to relieve the pressure on my TBR.

What do you do when you’re in a slump with your reading, writing, and pretty much everything else?
Apparently.. This.

This tag has been gathering cobwebs in the back of my draft folder for months now and since I love almost all things Pride and Prejudice (except, maybe, Mr. Collins.. and society’s expectation towards women) I figured I would finally get around to finishing and posting it.

Ready?
Set.
Read!

Make sure you:

  • Thank those who tagged you.
  • Link back to the creator of the tag (Emma @TurnAnotherPage)
  • Tag as many people as you want
  • Have fun!!

Cassandra Palmer by Karen Chance
Eve Duncan by Iris Johansen
Abhorsen by Garth Nix

And so many more..

Mr Darcy: The Unexpected Surprise
A book or series that you didn’t originally like but grew to love:

I found quite a few similarities between these books and Cassandra Clare‘s ‘Mortal Instruments‘ and ‘Infernal Devices‘ series, which is what turned me off initially.. but Kate Elliot’s characters, writing, and storyline were waaaaay more enjoyable.

Cold Magic by Kate Elliot

Book 1 of 3: The Spiritwalker Trilogy

It is the dawn of a new age. . . The Industrial Revolution has begun, factories are springing up across the country, and new technologies are transforming in the cities. But the old ways do not die easy.

Cat and Bee are part of this revolution. Young women at college, learning of the science that will shape their future and ignorant of the magics that rule their families. But all of that will change when the Cold Mages come for Cat. New dangers lurk around every corner and hidden threats menace her every move. If blood can’t be trusted, who can you trust?

Lady Catherine de Bourg: The Intimidating Aristocrat
A book or series that intimidates you:

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

Mr Bingley: Honest Yet Easily Led
A character you think deserves a lot of love:

Bella

Of course I’m going to pick the dog.

A Dog’a Way Home and A Dog’s Courage by W. Bruce Cameron

Mr Collins: Awkward and a little socially inept.
What hyped or popular book/series have you not yet read?

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

The Gardiners: Steady Voices of Reason
A character from any book, film, or tv series that you would turn to for advice:

Aslan

Gandalf is pretty much high all the time. (he really could’ve just called the eagles from the beginning) Dumbledore could have found a way to protect Harry without sacrificing himself.
And I adore Professor X.. but he had a tendency to ask of the others what he wasn’t willing to do himself.

So, yes.. I’ll take advice from the giant kitty cat, thanks.

The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis

Fantastic creatures, heroic deeds, epic battles in the war between good and evil, and unforgettable adventures come together in this world where magic meets reality, which has been enchanting readers of all ages for over sixty years. The Chronicles of Narnia has transcended the fantasy genre to become a part of the canon of classic literature.

Mr Wickham: The Deceiver
A book that did not reach your expectations
:

So disappointed.. this one ended up getting chunked into the DNF pile.
Though I may (a long, long, looong time from now) give it another chance.

Under the Harrow by Flynn Berry

When Nora takes the train from London to visit her sister in the countryside, she expects to find her waiting at the station, or at home cooking dinner. But when she walks into Rachel’s familiar house, what she finds is entirely different: her sister has been the victim of a brutal murder.

Stunned and adrift, Nora finds she can’t return to her former life. An unsolved assault in the past has shaken her faith in the police, and she can’t trust them to find her sister’s killer. Haunted by the murder and the secrets that surround it, Nora is under the harrow: distressed and in danger. As Nora’s fear turns to obsession, she becomes as unrecognizable as the sister her investigation uncovers.

Georgiana Darcy: Shy and Naive but Friendly
An under-hyped or represented book that you really love
:

The Queen of All That Dies by Laura Thalassa

In the future, the world is at war.

For the last decade, King Lazuli of the Eastern Empire has systematically taken over the world. No one knows much about him other than a series of impossible facts: he cannot die, he has not aged since the conflict began, and he wants to rule the world.

All Serenity Freeman has known is bloodshed. War has taken away her mother, her home, her safety. As the future emissary of the Western United Nations, the last autonomous region of the globe, she is responsible for forging alliances where she can.

Surrender is on the horizon. The king can taste it; Serenity feels it deep within her bones. There is no other option. Now the two must come face to face. For Serenity, that means confronting the man who’s taken everything from her. For the king, it means meeting the one woman he can’t conquer. But when they meet, something happens. Cruelty finds redemption.

Only in war, everything comes with a price. Especially love.

Colonel Foster’s Regiment: Sure to liven up any party!

Fever by Karen Marie Moning

Thank you, I’m so glad you did! 😊

Haha, I know what you mean about Mr Collins. I find him more ridiculous and cringy every time I reread the book or watch one of the adaptations. He still won’t stop the book being one of my favourites though.

    1. Sheri Dye

Lol, I know that feeling well! And ‘cringy’ is absolutely the perfect word for him.
I never realized how widely disliked his character was until I started blogging, it’s actually pretty impressive..

Just when I thought the perfect tag doesn’t exist I see this lol! I love Pride and really enjoyed our choices.

I don’t know, Pooja, they still have the opportunity to make a ‘Pride and Prejudice and Cats’ version.. Now that would be purrfect. 🤭😆
