Did you know April is National Poetry Month?

Celebrate the poems you know and love!

Many thanks to Carla @ Carla Loves To Read for reminding me that April is National Poetry Month.
Half the time I don’t even find out what to celebrate until after it’s passed so.. I’m going to need someone to make a calendar or something that keeps readers informed and up to date on all the bookish related holidays and such. Just saying.

If you’re a fan of poetry like I am.. and I know you are. You also know there are too many to ever just pick one. The struggle is real.
So I’ll be sharing a few of my top favorite poets and poems today.
Enjoy!

Okay..
Let’s do this!

My Own:

As I lay beneath trees
Heavy with pollen
My mind wanders off
Silent and solemn

The blue sky above me
My head in the clouds
The birds and the bees
and the sun smile down

Bursting with life
A chance for new growth
Nature surrounds me
With beauty, with hope

Soft whispers of Spring
Take flight on the breeze
The world breathes us in
At last, harmony

And that’s a wrap!

I hope you enjoyed this post, the poems, and the people that have shared them with us.
Be well and have a beautiful April!

Thanks for the shout-out. Or should I say sigh-out, does tht suit the tranquil scene better ?

    1. Sheri Dye

You’re very welcome! And I don’t know.. a sigh might imply boredom. Oh! What about convey-out?

  2. Athena (OneReadingNurse)

I really don’t love poetry but Oyster Boy was funny, I think that’s poetry! Elizabeth Brown has some good ones too

    1. Sheri Dye

Then I’m grateful you checked out my post, thank you! And I’m not familiar with either Oyster boy or Elizabeth Brown.. I’ll have to check them out.
      Be well!

      1. Athena (OneReadingNurse)

It’s called “the melancholy death of oyster boy and other stories” by Tim burton!

        1. Sheri Dye

With a title like that.. and by Tim Burton, too, it has to be interesting!

  3. Carla

Great post and thanks for the shout out, Sheri. I enjoyed reading all these poems, some more than others. I liked yours very much.

    1. Sheri Dye

Any time, Carla, and thank you! I’m grateful for the reminder and I’m glad you enjoyed the poems.
      Have a lovely Easter! 💖

I forgot how much I liked “The Walrus and the Carpenter”! And loved your poem as well as your choices. Such a perfect post for National Poetry Month!

    1. Sheri Dye

It’s the kind of poem that sticks with you. Plus.. it has such a good message.
Thank you! I’m not used to sharing my own poetry so this was a bit difficult. I think I added it and removed it a dozen times.
      I’m glad you liked it!

      1. Pooja G

I’m glad you shared your own and I think you should share more!

        1. Sheri Dye

          Thank you. 💗
I hope to work my way up to that.. it’s just been a slow process.

          1. Pooja G

I totally understand that it’s definitely a process!

          2. Sheri Dye

Thank you, it’s nice to have people who can understand. 💓
I do hear it gets easier the more you do it but.. yea. It’s those first steps that are always the hardest.

Did not know April was poetry month! But then, I’m not a big poetry person…even though I might not get much out of it, but I hope those who enjoy it will! 😀

    1. Sheri Dye

I think I only learned of it last year, myself.. Blogging has opened my eyes to so many different things, it’s crazy.
And thank you, Mogsy! I’m grateful you took the time to read and comment even though poetry isn’t your thing. 🥰
