Check Out This 90’s Cartoon Book Tag

Some of the best cartoons, if I say so myself, came from the 90’s.

I may have been addicted to cartoons at one point and possibly (absolutely) still am so..
How could I not do this great tag?

I’m unsure of the original creator’s name so, if you happen to know, I would appreciate it if you would leave their blog in the comments so I can give proper thanks!

Now.. Thanks to the whacky weather and recent explosion of pollen in our area, colds run rampant, and our house has not passed unscathed. I suppose it’s a small blessing that that’s all it is, though, but it does have me cutting this post short tonight.

I’ll get right to it, then, yes?

DOUG
Find a book about growing up:

First Test (Protector of the Small Quartet) by Tamora Pierce

Keladry of Mindelan is the first girl who dares to take advantage of a new rule in Tortall—one that allows females to train for knighthood. After years in the Yamani Islands, she knows that women can be warriors, and now that she’s returned home, Kel is determined to achieve her goal. She believes she is ready for the traditional hazing and grueling schedule of a page. But standing in Kel’s way is Lord Wyldon. The training master is dead set against girls becoming knights. He says she must pass a one-year trial that no male page has ever had to endure. It’s just one more way to separate Kel from her fellow trainees. But she is not to be underestimated. She will fight to succeed, even when the test is unfair.

JOHNNY BRAVO
Find a book whose main character you don’t like:

Charlie
Survive the Night by Riley Sager
Nora
Under the Harrow by Flynn Berry

SOUTH PARK
Find a book with questionable humor:

First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones

I pointed to my right breast. “This is Danger.” Then my left. “And this is Will Robinson. I would appreciate it if you addressed them accordingly.”
After a long pause in which he took the time to blink several times, he asked, “You named your breasts?”
I turned my back to him with a shrug. “I named my ovaries, too, but they don’t get out as much.”

Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light.” But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life…and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

Love the tag and how accurate their descriptions are!

Rugrats – Harry Potter or Little Women
Johnny Bravo – The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
Powerpuff Girls – The Millennium Trilogy

And yesss, why isn’t Scooby Doo here???

    1. Sheri Dye

Ooh.. those are great choices! I’m surprised at Addie LaRue, though, I haven’t had a chance to read it yet but all I’ve heard are good things.. You didn’t enjoy it?

And right? I actually find it almost criminal that SD isn’t here.

      1. Happy Panda

I liked the book but only once Henry comes into the storyline. I didn’t really like Addie’s character.

        1. Sheri Dye

Well, that’s unfortunate. The storyline does intrigue me though so I’ll probably still give it a chance. Besides.. now I’m curious to see if I feel the same. 😋

  2. tsepoimpactor

Old cartoons are indeed the best compared to this of today but I can understand why because back then children were so much interested in cartoons but kids of today are not so those who makes cartoons now lack motivation however big up to teen taeteens…

    1. Sheri Dye

But aren’t most of the cartoons now made by the generation who loved cartoons then? Shouldn’t that make them better?

      1. tsepoimpactor

It should but unfortunately nowadays generation put focus more on music so much that they don’t realize their talents when it comes to cartoons content and creativity.

        1. Sheri Dye

It’s a shame. Cartoons used to be worth watching.

At least we have the 90’s. 😅🤭
