As a blogger.. What do you think?
The more I look around about which social media platforms better supports book blogs.. the more frustrated I become.
They both seem to be loved and hated in equal measure by the blogging community.
So I’m asking you..
What has your experience been like with either Twitter or Instagram?
Which have you enjoyed more?
Which one has worked for your blog?
You’re opinions, suggestions, or advice would be very much appreciated.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!
I do not like Twitter very much at all. All I ever do there is retweet a few things every so many months. I do like Instagram though. I have worked to get my followers up and it’s easy to use. I only started really using it a couple of years ago. Before I was somewhat confused with it. Now I am pretty comfortable with it. I always post books, personal pics of pets and family, pics of food I make and anything dealing with reviews. I use it mostly for pushing books though.
I’m not really familiar with either of them, if you can believe that, I mostly try to avoid inviting more social media into my life but so many have pointed out the potential benefits of it that I feel compelled to at least try.
Instagram has helped me gain new friends and follows on my blog. Not a lot on the blog but a few. I still need so many and am hoping the direction I am getting ready to do will help me with that. I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to follow a blog but they sure won’t. My blogspot one is the one I use most. Well this one too but that is my main one. lol
I think I’m leaning more towards Twitter.. a good many have said that it’s helped with their own blogs and that it’s relatively simple to use.
And I don’t think most people consider the blog or blogger.. They’re just focused on getting the information they need.
But, still, we try..
Many prayers and best wishes that your own plans work out!
I found twitter harder to use and after Bozo bought it I just am not using it much anymore. I meant Bozo too. lol Bezo
Bleh.. I’m not thrilled about either but I’m just naturally grumpy about social media so it’s possible that I may end up liking them.
Instagram is a great place to get people interested but will they actually check out your blog? I’m not sure. I think Twitter users are more likely to read blog posts! But I don’t have a lot of experience with either.
Alright.. It’s starting to look like you just have to try them both out to see what works best.
Thank you!
I mostly do bookstagram! Twitter is my place to vent and stay in touch with my friends!
Mad Hatter moment here: If Instagram has Bookstagram does that make Twitter.. Bitter?
Okay, I’m done.
That sounds like a great way to do it! I may have to try both just to see what they’re about. Thank you for your help!
Hahahahaha
Wouldn’t it be Botter? 😂
You should try twitter! It’s been a lot of fun! And I like tweeting into the void sometimes!
My brain just sent so many imaginary high-fives for that one. 😆
And I think I’m leaning towards Twitter, thanks, it sounds a little more my style.
Plus there’s a void.. I hear those are nice this time of year.
The voids are fantastic places!
Lol, they have the best cookies!
I use both Sheri, but probably use Twitter more than Instagram.
Thank you, Sandy!
I’m beginning to think I might just have to try both and get a feel for how they work for me.. but I think Twitter is winning this by a hair. 😆
Twitter is easy to accumulate followers (if you put a little work in) and WP adds those followers to your follower total which makes for great stats in NetGalley and such. Instagram is much more work (though I love the creativity of taking photos), followers are harder to accumulate, and WP does not recognize it – so it only impacts your stats if you can get enough active followers on there to be considered “an influencer.” I would just try them out and see what you think.
Okay.. Thank you, Tessa, that’s really helpful! I’ve been slowly leaning towards Twitter but this probably decides it for me.. It sounds like Instagram might be fun to play around with but maybe not for blogging.
I really appreciate it!
As myself, I would say Instagram butttt as a social media manager I would say Twitter. Both are great for book bloggers and can instantly increase your traffic and following but the reason I would pick Twitter over IG is because it’s so much easier to grow there and get like minded followers ie people who are into books. On the other hand, it takes forever to grow on IG. Sure you’ll get traffic once your page grows but it will be a while before that happens whereas it’s so much faster on Twitter. This is just my experience since one of my clients is a book blogger and that’s what I see happening. Personally, I post regularly on IG but rarely do anything on Twitter besides automatically post when a blog post is published and I still get more views from Twitter than IG. But I enjoy using IG more. I think you broke my brain so I’m going to end this comment now 🤣
Wow.. Thanks, Pooja!
I might end up with both in the end (especially with how much everyone enjoys Instagram) but so far.. Nearly everyone agrees that Twitter is the best for growing your blog.
I really appreciate you taking the time, this has been so helpful! 💖
Yeah both is probably the best way to go. Of course- happy to help and if you ever need more information on this feel free to reach out! It’s literally what I do 😅
Lol. Thank you.. That’s so nice of you.💖
I might just take you up on that but only if you’re sure you don’t mind.. I don’t want you to feel like you’re being taken advantage of.
Oh no it’s not a problem at all! Always happy to help ☺
Well, thank you, it is much appreciated.🌹
If you wish to sell something any social media platform is ok.
Otherwise they are just waste of your valuable time.
I just have one platform… wordpress.
This is my personal opinion after trying many platforms.
Thank you my friend for your query
Okay. I can see the value in that.
You would have more time to put into your blog without the responsibility of maintaining other platforms.
I appreciate you taking the time and for your opinion!
Thank you my friend for being kind towards my opinion.
The opportunities are vast my friend.
So also opinions from the readers.
Everything is just trial and error only.
Ultimately you are the deciding person and your judgment is final.
All the best.
My pleasure!
It costs so little to be kind.
And I agree, it will be my decision in the end.. but it’s nice that we all experience these things differently and can share those experiences with one another.
Be well, friend.
🙏🙏🙏
I am still trying to figure out how to use twitter and not exactly a fan of it, as for me I use Instagram and Facebook both works perfectly well for my blog. 😁
Oh my goodness.. I am so over Facebook drama. You can’t seem to go on there without a piece of your soul dying anymore.
I am glad it works for you though! 😅
Haha… Luckily for me my soul is still intact and worked quite well 😆
Lol! I should hope so but I am happy to hear it! 😋
Haha.. Fingers crossed it stays that way 🤞😄
Fingers and toes! 😋
Haha… The more the merrier 😄
It never hurts!
You take care and have a great week.🌹
You take care as well and a great week ahead 🌸
Thank you, I hope so!
Hopefully this latest book turns out as good as it sounds.
Are you enjoying your latest read?
I am enjoying reading thrillers right now 😄
Heyy.. me too! Thrillers, mystery, and suspense (bonus points for all three)
Happy reading! 😋
It’s the same here, can’t really get enough of it. Happy readings to you as well my friend 🙂
I agree.. they’re so addictive!
And one of the best things about reading is that even when you’ve finished a book.. there will always be another to get lost in.
100% 😁
Yes that’s exactly the best thing about books, there’s always a next one and it never leaves you. Which book are you reading right now?
Books are a great constant in all the chaos of life.
I’m reading Under Her Care by Lucinda Berry.. How about you? Anything good?
Truly said my friend.
I haven’t read that one, how’s it so far?
Just done reading Love Me Not by M.J. Arlidge now trying to decide what to read next 😁
It’s kind of twisted.. I’m actually really looking forward to seeing how the author brings all of it together and fully expect an incredibly shocking finale.
Did you enjoy Love Me Not? I checked it out (for some reason I was expecting a romance.. surprise!) and ended up adding it to my TBR. 😋
That sounds like my kind of book haha… Will add that to my list.
I loved reading it, it’s honestly quite an unexpected one. Like you said even I thought it was some kind of romance, this book was one of those nice surprises. 😁
It was interesting.. not the explosive ending I was expecting but she’s a fantastic author if you enjoy some pretty twisted characters.
I love the ones that surprise you. Can it be read as a standalone or do you think it would be better to start from the beginning?
I do like reading a twisted character haha…
Yes those are the best one’s to read, I think it is best to start from the beginning.
So do I.. Have you ever read Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage? Now that’s twisted.
And I’ll see about finding the first one then, thank you!
No I haven’t, I’ll make sure to grab a copy of that
Best of luck.. I enjoyed it but I can see why a lot of people didn’t. It’s an absolute ‘wtf?’ read.😅
Haha… They don’t have the stomach to digest a twist as much as we do 🤣
This is probably true.. 😅
Even I was shocked at parts of Baby Teeth but I think that’s what I like in a good psychological thriller.
Haha… I agree with you on that and what use is a psychological thriller without a good twist in it. 😄
Is it a psychological thriller at that point?😆
Haha… That’s one question worth asking 😆
For me, instagram is better than twitter.
Lol. I guess I’ll just have to check them both out and figure out which one is for me..
Thank you!
