Not my best month.. but not my worst either.
It’s been a terribly slow month of reading.
I was only able to finish two books and start a third so.. I’m not exactly impressed with myself.
The month did begin with a trip down to south Florida so I was a bit distracted by that but I’m still unhappy with how little I read.
I’ll just have to see how much I can stuff into July.
Ahh, life, why didn’t you warn me that being a grown-up would be so damn time consuming?
At least I was able to pick up a few interesting reads this month and, thanks to my birthday, I also received a few of the books I’ve been ridiculously excited for. (They arrived late, upsetting my poor husband, but that made them a much bigger surprise!)
But let’s get to the books, shall we?

What I managed to read this month:
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
New York Times bestselling author Maureen Johnson weaves a delicate tale of murder and mystery in the first book of a striking new series, perfect for fans of Agatha Christie and E. Lockhart.
The Clackity by Lora Senf
Reminiscent of Doll Bones, this deliciously eerie middle grade novel tells the story of a girl who must enter a world of ghosts, witches, and monsters to play a game with deadly consequences and rescue her aunt.
What I’m currently reading:
Acts of Violet by Maragarita Montimore
Nearly a decade ago, iconic magician Violet Volk performed her greatest trick yet: vanishing mid-act. Though she hasn’t been seen since, her hold on the public hasn’t wavered. While Violet sought out the spotlight, her sister Sasha, ever the responsible one, took over their mother’s salon and built a quiet life for her daughter, Quinn. But Sasha can never seem to escape her sister’s orbit or her memories of their unresolved, tumultuous relationship. Then there’s Cameron Frank, determined to finally get his big break hosting a podcast devoted to all things Violet—though keeping his job hinges on an exclusive interview with Sasha, the last person who wants to talk to him.
As the ten-year anniversary approaches, the podcast picks up steam, and Cameron’s pursuit of Sasha becomes increasingly intrusive. He isn’t the only one wondering what secrets she might be keeping: Quinn, loyal to the aunt she always idolized, is doing her own investigating. Meanwhile, Sasha begins to experience an unsettling series of sleepwalking episodes and coincidences, which all lead back to Violet. Pushed to her emotional limits, Sasha must finally confront the most painful truths about her sister, and herself, even at the risk of losing everything.
What I hope to read next:
I’m really not sure yet.
I had a plan, I really did, but with the recent additions to my collection, the amazing book recommendations from all of you, and the ever present (never ending) TBR options.. it has me dithering a bit on what to choose.
Books I’ve picked up this month:
E-Books:
The Mill by Cailyn Lloyd
Ashley Bell by Dean Koontz
The Violence by Delilah S. Dawson
Physical Copies:
Nettle and Bone by T. Kingfisher
Blood Scion by Deborah Falaye
Such a Pretty Smile by Kristi DeMeester
My reading goals for July:
Read a romance
Read the second book in a series
Read a book that I’ve been excited about
And that’s my month in books..
Thank you for taking the time to read my post!
I hope you liked it and that a book or two make it onto your TBR!
