What Books Remind You of these Older Horror Movies?

Hello and Welcome!

Today I’ll be posting Part Two of my accidental Halloween Movies Book Tag marathon.
This one’s for the more adult-aged films but I’ll just leave that up to any parents or guardians to figure out.

There are some great books here that I highly recommend checking out.. Not all are scary or even disturbing so it’s my hope that you will be able to find at least one book that catches your eye.

Have a wonderful October!

Halloween:
Revenge

The Destruction of Sevyn by Ember Michaels (tbr)

She thought she got away with murder.
Now I’m back to remind her that no sin goes unpunished.

Seven years ago, Sevyn Langdon shattered my family.

She initiated a plan, drenched in lust and envy, which stole my sister’s life.

Her family’s wealth ensured her involvement vanished.

Her pride stroked my desire for revenge.

And my wrath will end them all.

Where the justice system failed, I will not.I will never forget.

I will never forgive.May God have mercy on their souls—because I won’t.

Seven years I waited and now the seven responsible will atone for their wrongdoings.

I won’t stop until they all pay–starting with the mastermind of it all.

And I won’t be satisfied until she’s destroyed.

A Nightmare on Elm Street:
Hunted by a serial killer

Keep Me Safe by Maya Banks

When Caleb Devereaux’s younger sister is kidnapped, this scion of a powerful and wealthy family turns to an unlikely source for help: a beautiful and sensitive woman with a gift for finding answers others cannot.

While Ramie can connect to victims and locate them by feeling their pain, her ability comes with a price. Every time she uses it, it costs her a piece of herself. Helping the infuriatingly attractive and impatient Caleb successfully find his sister nearly destroys her. Even though his sexual intensity draws her like a magnet, she needs to get as far away from him as she can.

Deeply remorseful for the pain he’s caused, Caleb is determined to make things right. But just when he thinks Ramie’s vanished forever, she reappears. She’s in trouble and she needs his help. Now, Caleb will do risk everything to protect her—including his heart. . . .

Edward Scissorhands:
A misunderstood monster

The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey
Written in Red by Anne Bishop
Friends With the Monsters by Albany Walker

The Shining by Stephen King:
A haunted house story

Bad Girls Don’t Die by Katie Alender

Alexis thought she led a typically dysfunctional high school existence. Dysfunctional like her parents’ marriage. Or her doll-crazy twelve-year-old sister, Kasey. Or even like her own anti-social, anti-cheerleader attitude.

When a family fight results in some tearful sisterly bonding, Alexis realizes that her life is creeping from dysfunction into danger. Kasey is acting stranger than ever: her blue eyes go green, sometimes she uses old-fashioned language, and she even loses track of chunks of time, claiming to know nothing about her strange behavior. Their old house is changing, too. Doors open and close by themselves. Water boils on the unlit stove, and an unplugged air conditioner turns the house cold enough to see their breath in.

Alexis wants to think that it’s all in her head, but soon, what she liked to think of as silly parlor tricks are becoming life-threatening: to her, her family, and to her budding relationship with the class president. Alexis knows she’s the only person who can stop Kasey—but what if that green-eyed girl isn’t even Kasey anymore?

Resident Evil:
After the end of the world

The Queen of All That Dies by Laura Thalassa
Leech by Hiron Ennes
The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

Labyrinth:
A dark fairy tale

One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig

Elspeth needs a monster. The monster might be her.

Elspeth Spindle needs more than luck to stay safe in the eerie, mist-locked kingdom she calls home—she needs a monster. She calls him the Nightmare, an ancient, mercurial spirit trapped in her head. He protects her. He keeps her secrets.

But nothing comes for free, especially magic.

When Elspeth meets a mysterious highwayman on the forest road, her life takes a drastic turn. Thrust into a world of shadow and deception, she joins a dangerous quest to cure the kingdom of the dark magic infecting it. Except the highwayman just so happens to be the King’s own nephew, Captain of the Destriers…and guilty of high treason.

He and Elspeth have until Solstice to gather twelve Providence Cards—the keys to the cure. But as the stakes heighten and their undeniable attraction intensifies, Elspeth is forced to face her darkest secret yet: the Nightmare is slowly, darkly, taking over her mind. And she might not be able to stop him.
