My Review:

Tori can’t hold down a job, she has a little issue with assaulting customers and this latest one is no different. Now word has gotten out and no one will hire her—until she wanders into somewhere she doesn’t belong and all of a sudden her, ‘don’t take crap from anyone,’ attitude has her fitting right in. But there’s more going on in this bar than she knows and it may be that her new job is more dangerous than this new bartender can handle.

This was such a fun and entertaining read—just the kind of break from the twisted tales that I needed. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t perfect but what it lacked in depth and complexity, the characters made up for in spades. They were all so bad? flawed? screw-ups? that it had me laughing from one page to the next. It was like they were trying to sneak out at night only to kick the coffee table, knock over mom’s vase, step on every lego, and almost make it out.. before accidentally setting off the fire alarm. You couldn’t help but be amused.

I loved that our main character wasn’t ‘chosen’ or an insta-badass. She was just one little human, in a world full of supernatural beings, who somehow manages to save her new friends asses almost every.single.time. sh!t hits the fan. It was too hilarious and surprisingly refreshing, I’ll definitely be picking up more of this series in the future.

I’m a big fan of Annette Marie’s ‘Steel and Stone‘ series so I’m not all that surprised that I enjoyed this book as much as I did.. but I am thrilled that it didn’t disappoint. She’s definitely an author you want to check out if you’re a fan of Urban Fantasy.
