Book Covers to Love: Monsters

They’re not just under your bed..

Welcome!

This months Book Covers to Love was a fun scavenger hunt through some of my favorite genres:
Horror, Supernatural, Dark Fantasy, Science Fiction, and many others.
Monsters can, after all, be found anywhere.

Now.. I know not everyone is interested in scary stories, which is perfectly understandable, but I like to think we can all appreciate some of the weird and creative covers that can be found in the darker side of fiction.
Shall we find out?

Below are 13 books featuring strange, sinister, and spooky covers that you might just end up loving.

Enjoy!

Micheline Helsing is a tetrachromat — a girl who sees the auras of the undead in a prismatic spectrum. As one of the last descendants of the Van Helsing lineage, she has trained since childhood to destroy monsters both corporeal and spiritual: the corporeal undead go down by the bullet, the spiritual undead by the lens. With an analog SLR camera as her best weapon, Micheline exorcises ghosts by capturing their spiritual energy on film. She’s aided by her crew: Oliver, a techno-whiz and the boy who developed her camera’s technology; Jude, who can predict death; and Ryder, the boy Micheline has known and loved forever.

When a routine ghost hunt goes awry, Micheline and the boys are infected with a curse known as a soulchain. As the ghostly chains spread through their bodies, Micheline learns that if she doesn’t exorcise her entity in seven days or less, she and her friends will die. Now pursued as a renegade agent by her monster-hunting father, Leonard Helsing, she must track and destroy an entity more powerful than anything she’s faced before . . . or die trying.

Lock, stock, and lens, she’s in for one hell of a week.

Book 1 of 2: The Monsters and Men Trilogy

Five years removed from a life as an apprentice to a group of heroes who battled supernatural evils, the once-promising student Janzen Robinson has become a package courier. He now works the daily grind, passing time at a hole-in-the-wall bar and living in a tiny, run-down apartment on the south side of Cleveland, Ohio.

Then from the ancient recesses of unyielding darkness known as the Abyss, a creature has been summoned: a Stalker, a predator whose real name must never be spoken. It’s a bastardization of the natural order, a formidable blend of dark magic and primal tenacity. Its mission? To end the life of a fiery, emerging young witch.

Thrust into the role of protector, a position once reserved for those he’d lost years ago, the out-of-practice “Artificer” is forced to confront his painful past while facing an unstoppable monster hell-bent on destruction. Janzen must keep one step ahead of the beast as he journeys through Cleveland’s magical underbelly to uncover why it’s been brought to our world. He will need to rely on old friends, a quiet stranger, and his own questionable wits to reach the other side of this nightmare—that just might cost him his life and, quite possibly, the world itself.

Book 1 of 3: Night of Terror

How do you explain something you can’t prove or touch?

You know without a doubt something is there, lurking in the corner, watching your every move yet invisible to the naked eye … Your heart thuds and pounds against your ribs. Your fear spikes so high that your stomach twists and turns, and your pores prick with chill before layering your skin with a fine sheen of sweat.

And when you sleep . . . you can feel them, smell them, see them, but no one else can. It haunts you in the night, holding you prisoner to your bed, tormenting you with an unrelenting terror. You’re paralyzed and helpless, unable to scream, unable to think rationally . . . unable to move.

Is this the trick of the mind, or is Victoria truly plagued with REAL demons?

Based on a true story but written as fiction, it’s the stuff of nightmares . . . literally.

Warning! This is not the first book in a series. Possible Spoilers Ahead.
