My ‘Finish the Sentence’ Book Tag Challenge

Have fun finishing these simple sentences with the title of a book!

Time for another one of my ‘I’m bored and want to share some of the incredible books on my TBR’ tags. (Aren’t you glad I shortened that title?)

I’m hoping this one will be a little more entertaining and challenging than the others!

I’ve done my share of really wonderful tags on here, probably too many, (they’re kind of addictive..) And some of my favorites to date have been the ones that had me really digging for the answers to.

Laura @ Laura’s Book Reviews did a wonderful job with the ‘Book Blogger Memory Challenge’ booktag.
But my favorite (so far) has been the ‘Count to 10 With Me’ booktag by Alyce @The Bumbling Book Blogger.
(That one took over a week and ended up being highly entertaining for my husband.)

I’m hoping you’ll enjoy this one as much as I did while making it!

As always,
Happy Reading!

Rules:

  • Credit the original creator and link back to their page @ ReadBetwixtWords
  • Fill in the blank with a book title that best creates a completed sentence.
(The topic or synopsis of the book does not have to make sense.. the goal is to ‘finish the sentence.’)
  • Have fun with it!
  • Tag a friend or fellow blogger.

Be careful what you wish for.

A woman who was touched by tragedy as a child now lives a quiet life, keeping other people at a cool distance. She even believes she wants it that way. Then one day she utters an idle wish and, while standing in her house, is struck by lightning. But instead of ending her life, this cataclysmic event sparks a strange and powerful new beginning.

She goes in search of Lazarus Jones, a fellow survivor who was struck dead, then simply got up and walked away. Perhaps this stranger who has seen death face to face can teach her to live without fear. When she finds him, he is her perfect opposite, a burning man whose breath can boil water and whose touch scorches. As an obsessive love affair begins between them, both hide their most dangerous secrets — what happened in the past that turned one to ice and the other to fire.

She gets the chance to prove her capabilities when an urgent letter arrives from her frantic cousin Daphne, begging Sophia to come look into the suspicious death of Daphne’s brother.

As Sophia begins to unravel the tangled threads of the case—with the help of a charming young policeman—she soon realizes that the murderer may be even closer to her family than she ever suspected.

We Are All the Same in the Dark
by Julia Heaberlin

It’s been a decade since Trumanell Branson disappeared, leaving only a bloody handprint behind. Her pretty face still hangs like a watchful queen on the posters on the walls of the town’s Baptist church, the police station, and in the high school. They all promise the same thing: We will find you. Meanwhile, Tru’s brother, Wyatt, lives as a pariah in the desolation of the old family house, cleared of wrongdoing by the police but tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion and in a new documentary about the crime.

When Wyatt finds a lost girl dumped in a field of dandelions, making silent wishes, he believes she is a sign. The town’s youngest cop, Odette Tucker, believes she is a catalyst that will ignite a seething town still waiting for its own missing girl to come home. But Odette can’t look away. She shares a wound that won’t close with the mute, one-eyed mystery girl. And she is haunted by her own history with the missing Tru.

Desperate to solve both cases, Odette fights to save the lost girl in the present and to dig up the shocking truth about a fateful night in the past—the night her friend disappeared, the night that inspired her to become a cop, the night that wrote them all a role in the town’s dark, violent mythology.

by Elle Cosimano

Nearly Boswell knows how to keep secrets. Living in a DC trailer park, she knows better than to share anything that would make her a target with her classmates. But when a serial killer goes on a killing spree and starts attacking students, leaving cryptic ads in the newspaper that only Nearly can decipher, she confides in the one person she shouldn’t trust: the new guy at school–a reformed bad boy working undercover for the police, doing surveillance. . . on her.

Nearly might be the one person who can put all the clues together, and if she doesn’t figure it all out soon–she’ll be next.
