A book that reminds you of your Mother:

The Thousand-Dollar Tan line

Publication date: March 2014
Pages: 338
Genre: Mystery, Fiction, Thriller
Series: Book 1 of 2: Veronica Mars

Still one of my favorites. This snarky, smart-mouthed main character is a daddy’s girl and has quite a few unresolved issues with her mother.

A Dog’s Way Home

Publication date: May 2017
Pages: 337
Genre: Adventure, Fiction, Family life
Series: Book 1 of 2: A Dog’s Way Home

This book is perfect for dog/animal lovers. It’s so sweet and heartwarming that it doesn’t surprise me that this is what would remind me of my Mother-in-law.

A book your Mom loves to read:

Flowers in the Attic

Publication date: November 1979
Pages: 420
Genre: Gothic horror, Psychological fiction, Fiction
Series: Book 1 of 11: Dollanganger

It was my mother who originally inspired my interest in V.C. Andrews. Twisted but no less disturbing than some YA’s these days.

The Summoning

Publication date: August 2008
Pages: 404
Genre: Young adult, Romance, Paranormal fiction
Series: Book 1 of 6: Darkest Powers

It was either this or Fifty Shades of Gray and I just don’t think my poor, delicate sensibilities can handle picturing her reading that.

A book you enjoyed but don’t think your Mother would:

The Anatomy of Jane

Publication date: January 2017
Pages: 276
Genre: Contemporary romance, New adult fiction, LGBT literature
Series: Book 1 of 2: WJM

It’s hard to imagine this being a book either of my mother’s would
enjoy. And I would like to cling to that delusion for as long
as possible. It’s a great read but.. there are a lot of mature and
controversial topics. Not something you’d want to discuss with
mom at Thanksgiving.

A book your Mom has read to/with you:

Balto

Publication date: October 1989
Pages: 46
Genre: Children’s literature, Adventure, Children’s historical fiction
Series: Step Into Reading

I was borderline obsessed with this book growing up and it still holds a good deal of meaning to me because it was something my mother read with my sister and I.
I cherish those memories.

The Darkest Evening of the Year

Publication date: November 2007
Pages: 328
Genre: Horror, Suspense, Psychological thriller
Standalone

I love that my sweet as sugar Mother-in-law reads suspense with me. Since we don’t live close to one another(and her son, my husband, doesn’t read), we’ve made a habit of exchanging books a few times a year and it gives us something to bond over. This is one we both really enjoyed.

A book with the word Mother or Mom in the title:

A Mother’s Lie

Publication date: April 2020
Pages: 417
Genre: Domestic thriller, Psychological fiction, Suspense
Standalone

I chose this because, first? The title had ‘Mother’ in it
and second? This sounded like something just twisted
enough that I think that all three of us would enjoy
reading it.

A book where the main character is a Mother:

The Face of Deception

Publication date: August 2003
Pages: 480
Genre: Psychological fiction, Thriller, Mystery
Series: Book 1 of 27: Eve Duncan

There are a Lot of books to choose from where
the main character has a child. Probably several
that would seem more appropriate but..
Iris Johansen created a character that, in my
opinion, perfectly expresses the kind of love and
devotion a mother should have for her child.

A book about something your Mom loves:

Inside the Secret Life of Fairies: Where Dreams Come True

Publication date: August 2019
Pages: 256
Genre: Non-fiction, Religion and philosophy
Standalone

Faerie. Not fairytales, Disney, or anything like that. The old stories of dark and magical creatures. Anytime something goes missing or gets misplaced.. it had to have been ghosts or fairies.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua

Publication date: August 2008
Pages: 144
Genre: Children’s fiction, Children’s humor, Action, and adventure
Series: Digital Picture Book

Chihuahua’s are sort of a ‘thing’ on my husband’s side of the family. I, personally, prefer my dog’s to be bigger than the cat but.. to each their own.
She adores them and that’s all that matters.

And a book that you would give to your Mother as a gift:

Karma

Publication date: July 2014
Pages: 262
Genre: Dark fantasy, Paranormal fiction, Urban fantasy
Series: Book 1 of 4: Karma

You know what they say?
Not only would it be just a little entertaining to see the reaction this book title would cause but.. it’s is actually a really good read too.

The Duke and I

Publication date: April 2015
Pages: 433
Genre: Historical fiction, Historical romance, Regency romance
Series: Book 1 of 9: Bridgertons

I loved reading this book. It has funny and charming characters that I think my Mother-in-law would really enjoy.

And that’s that for creating my first tag!

I hope you enjoyed it and join in on celebrating all the incredible Moms that come in to our lives.

Whether you’re a new mom or an experienced one.
By blood or blessing.
A pet parent, A guardian,
Or a mother at heart.
We celebrate you.

Happy Mother’s Day!
