‘What to Watch’ Family Friendly Movies/Shows for Halloween

These 15 Halloween appropriate films and television shows are a blast from the past!

It’s always ever almost time or almost over but, either way, let’s enjoy what we can!

I know, I know, this is a book blog. So.. why, you ask, am I doing movies?
Because it’s my favorite time of year and I plan on tapping every last spooky, kooky, or creepy topic I possibly can.

Now, I’m seeing everyone already starting on their Christmas movie and book list, and I think that’s just a bit too early for me so.. Here are some movies and television shows to think about for Halloween.
(Fair warning: Not all of these may be appropriate for much younger kids.. then again, who knows?)

Hocus Pocus

“Therefore, it stands to reason, does it not, sisters dear? That we must find the book, brew the potion, and suck the lives out of the children of Salem before sunrise.

Halloweentown

“Being normal is vastly overrated.”

The Nightmare Before Christmas

(Halloween or Christmas, either one works.)

“There’s children throwing snowballs, instead of throwing heads, they’re busy building toys and absolutely no one’s dead.”

Casper

“Can I keep you?” – Casper

The Corpse Bride

“Tell me my dear, can a heart still break after it stops beating?”

Beetlejuice

(This one probably isn’t for all ages..)

“I myself am strange and unusual.”

Harry Potter

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

Goosebumps

Every story ever told can be divided into three distinctive parts: the beginning, the middle, and the twist.

Labyrinth

“You remind me of the babe.”
“What babe?”
“The babe with the power”
“What power?”
“Power of vodoo.”
“Who do?”
“You do”

Coraline

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”

The Addams Family

(Any or all of them. I prefer the 90’s movies.. but the 2019, and soon to be released in 2021, animated films are more modern and family friendly.)

“This is my costume. I’m a homicidal maniac. They look just like everybody else” – Wednesday.

The Munsters

“When your days on earth are over / And you’ve gone to your reward, / Let us put you ‘neath the clover / At a price you can afford.”

9

“We had such potential… such promise. But we squandered our gifts, our intelligence. Our blind pursuit of technology only sped us quicker to our doom. Our world is ending. But life… must go on.”

James and the Giant Peach

“There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours you haven’t started wondering about yet.”

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

“The story I’ve got is about three kinds of people: people who believe in magic, people who don’t, and people who should.”

Whether you enjoy Halloween or not.. These fantastic movies may take you down memory lane or to meet a cast full of new magical friends.

I hope you enjoyed this post and, as always, Happy reading!
