Spell the Month in Books November 2021

I’ve come to the point in my life that I’m not at all surprised to find myself asking..
How the hell is it November already?

Didn’t we just do this?
Every year, Sheri, we do this every year.

Anyway!
I’m a big fan of this challenge.. especially now that I actually attempt to finish them *cough* but that probably won’t be happening this month. Unfortunately, due to responsibilities in the real world, it seems like I will have to settle for getting in ‘as many as I can’. I’ll begin with setting the bar low and give myself the goal of finishing (at least) four.
*fingers crossed*

It’s so exciting! I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on several newer, more popular books recently and
I can’t wait to read and share them with you!

First.. I would like to give a big round of applause to Jana @ Reviews from the Stacks for creating, nurturing, and sharing this #SpelltheMonthinBooks challenge with us.
Thank you, Jana!

Rules:

  • As implied.. the goal is to use the first letter in the title of books you’ve either read or have on your TBR. They can be physical or virtual, skipping such words like A, An, and The, to spell out the current month.
  • A theme is supplied every month but following it is entirely up to you.
  • Once you have your stack.. you can join the linkup! You can do this by creating a post and adding your link to the linkup at the bottom of Review from the Stacks page or by sharing your link in a comment.
  • The linkup remains open for the duration of the month so.. there’s no need to rush but, as always, feel free to join!

Echo by Seven Rue

Book 1 of 2: Echo

Echo

No one would be looking for me. Or so I thought.

I ran away from the vile man my mother left me with, hoping to start over again in a different town.
But deep in the Alaskan wilderness, where I chose to run off to, there wasn’t a place I could settle down.

After days of walking and getting lost, I found shelter in a cabin, far away from civilization.

Until one day, they arrived.

Three brothers, one stronger and more complex than the other.
They let me stay, and the more time that past, the closer I got to each of them.

I soon realized that all three had an effect on me, and I couldn’t deny the feelings I felt when I was around them. Our bond grew strong, and before leaving the cabin to go home with them, they promised me to keep me safe forever.

But when the two people I wanted to leave behind came looking for me, promising me to be a family again, I had to decide if I wanted to spend the rest of my life with them, or the three men who took care of me.

Mirrorland by Carole Johnstone

Told with startling twists and haunting power, Mirrorland is a thrilling psychological suspense novel about twin sisters, the man they both love, the house that has always haunted them, and the childhood stories they can’t leave behind.

Cat lives in Los Angeles, far from 36 Westeryk Road, the imposing gothic house in Edinburgh where she and her estranged twin sister, El, grew up. As girls, they invented Mirrorland, a dark, imaginary place under the pantry stairs, full of pirates, witches, and clowns. These days, Cat rarely thinks about their childhood home, or the fact that El now lives there with her husband, Ross.

But when El mysteriously disappears after going out on her sailboat, Cat is forced to return to 36 Westeryk Road, which hasn’t changed in twenty years. The grand old house is still full of shadowy corners, and at every turn Cat finds herself stumbling on long-held secrets and terrifying ghosts from the past. Because someone—El?—has left Cat clues: a treasure hunt that leads back to Mirrorland, where the truth lies waiting…

Rage by K. A. Knight

Book 1 of 2: Her Monsters

My husband killed me.

Then he screwed his way through the city, the only problem? I didn’t stay dead. It seems killing me woke something deep inside, something so dark and buried so deep I never knew it was there.

I don’t know what I am, I don’t really care. All I can think about is revenge, even as the monsters in the dark start to surround me. Their horns and black eyes, mouths filled with fangs claiming I am theirs.

My monsters will have to wait, he will regret the day he crossed me.

Are you scared of the dark? You should be.

Pretty great line-up this November, if I do say so myself.. and I do. *toots own horn*

Intereting choices, Sheri! All covers look a bit dark-very suitable for November 🙂 The only one I already have on my tbr is Mirrorland, but the rest also look exciting. Hope you enjoy them all!

    1. Sheri Dye

Thanks! I tend to lean more towards the dark choices anyway but this time of the year makes it seem fitting. 😆

    1. Sheri Dye

Thanks, Tessa! I just started Mirrorland.. the author’s writing is wonderful.
And James Patterson is usually a 50-50 for me but this one I’m really excited about.
I hope you’re enjoying your latest adventure as well!

  3. Linda Moore

    Nice looking choices.
Next thing we know it will be a whole new year. Time is flying.

I agree. I already have a lot to read next year on my TBR calendar. The first three months are full anyway. lol Of course that is not far away.

        1. Sheri Dye

Agreed! The first three months for me is pretty crazy, too, some of the releases are going to be brilliant.. I can’t wait.
And you’re right about that! It’s hard to believe how quickly the end of the year has goes by.

This is such a cool concept, and such a great way to showcase some truly intriguing books. Thanks for repaying the favor and expanding my TBR!

    1. Sheri Dye

Thank you! I really enjoy doing the lists, it seems, there are so many different ways to play around and make them interesting..
And it’s my pleasure, Leah, I had to share the love! 🤭😆

  6. strawberryandcream

This is a super fun way to explore new books! And I feel the same – November, as always, came out of nowhere!!

    1. Sheri Dye

Isn’t it? The creator did an amazing job!
And the last three months of the year are always just here and gone in a blink.. It’s crazy. Next thing you know it will be April.

  7. booksfromtenelan

This challenge sounds really fun! I haven’t read any of the books you’ve listed, but I heard of some. It’s a great idea, instead of doing the usual book haul or lists, to present different books this way!

    1. Sheri Dye

It really is! Definitely makes me appreciate the shorter months, though.
I’m on my third book from this challenge and they’ve all been fantastic reads so I’m really happy with the selection this month!
You should try it out sometime.. the creator has made it super easy for everyone to connect and share their monthly challenges. 😊
      Have a wonderful evening!

      1. booksfromtenelan

That sounds great! I want to give it a try, maybe start with one of the shorter months haha

        1. Sheri Dye

Yay! I’d love to see what you come up with.. but I don’t blame you for waiting at all. 😆
