Asking for advice or suggestions on how to go about making this happen..
Hello, again!
Today I would like to ask for a pretty big favor.
My Gran’s birthday is quickly approaching and I would very much like to make her a small collection of poetry. Unfortunately.. I have no idea how to go about doing that.
I’m sure many of you will understand how difficult it is to give a gift to someone who has had, and seen, everything. She’s been through a lot and I want this year’s gift to mean something really special. We have the poems and I’m determined to find a way to do this for her.. I just need to figure out how.
Do you know how to go about accomplishing this?
I need to know:
Where do I start?
What are the best programs/apps to use?
Is it better to self publish or not?
What else should I know going into this?
(I do understand that I don’t know wth I’m doing if that helps..)
Any tips, tricks, or advice would be more than welcome and greatly appreciated.
I’ve wanted to do this for her for years and I just never knew how or where to look for the information. With all the writers, poets, and readers on here.. I’m hoping someone will know (and be willing) to point me in the right direction.
(Also: If you don’t personally know how to make this happen but do know of a blog that would?
Please.. leave a comment with the site name below!)
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post..
I can’t even begin say how grateful I am!
My mother always preferred things that were handmade as they felt more personal. Have you considered making a kind of scrapbook, with, maybe, printouts of the various poems mounted on a page surrounded by pictures and bits and bobs that relate to the poem? If you can draw or handwrite the poems that would be even more personal. If you search google images for poetry scrapbook pages you’ll get all sorts of ideas, and there are youtube videos giving ideas of how to go about it.
That’s such a great idea, thank you! I’ve never made a scrapbook but I’ll certainly look into that.
I agree with your Mom.. There’s something wonderful about knowing someone put the time and care into making it for you.
