This Month’s Reading Wrap Up
Hello and Welcome!
Seems like the beginning of the year is passing us by rather quickly.. or is just me?
Today I’ll be sharing with you the books that filled my February with fantastic adventures and characters. Some weren’t that great, others were fascinating, but each was/is unique and worth checking out.
Fans of Mystery, Horror, Suspense, and Fantasy are the most likely to find one that catches your interest, although I think there’s a little something for everyone.
Enjoy!

While reporting on a Tijuana animal shelter, journalist Bettina Blazak falls in love with one of her story’s subjects―an adorable Mexican street dog who is being treated for a mysterious gunshot wound. Bettina impulsively adopts the dog, who she names Felix after the veterinarian who saved him.
In investigating Felix’s past, Bettina discovers that his life is nothing like what she assumed. For one thing, he’s not a Mexican street dog at all. A former DEA drug-sniffing dog, Felix has led a very colorful, dangerous, and profitable life. With Bettina’s story going viral, some interesting people are looking for Felix, making him a target―again.
Bettina soon finds herself drawn into a deadly criminal underworld from which she and her beloved dog may not return.
Message in the Bones by Dawn Merriman
Publication date: October 1, 2019
Pages: 237
Genre: Psychic Suspense, Murder Mystery, Thriller, Romantic Suspense
Book 1 of 7: Messages of Murder
I lived through her murder when I touched her bones
I am NOT a freak, although many people call me that. The night my father was murdered and I was left for dead, I awoke with the ability to “sense” things. Touching things can give me visions, sometimes horrifying, murderous ones. That doesn’t make me a freak, but it gets me into trouble.
The bones of a murdered woman are unearthed and our safe small town is shaken to its core. Her killer was good at hiding the truth and after decades in the ground, any clues are gone – her murder a complete mystery. The only clues are the ones I can see.
My brother was recently promoted to head detective. With no other clues, you think he’d be thrilled to have my help, but he’d rather pretend I don’t exist than use my gifts. Thank heavens, his handsome partner doesn’t agree and calls me in.
Although I’m terrified to touch her, the mysterious skeleton has a story that needs told. When I grip the bones, I live through her murder. The message I see changes me – changes everything.
Instead of a helpful hero, I become even more of an outcast in my small town. The only person who believes me is the one man who knows the truth of my visions – the killer. He’s desperate to keep his secrets buried. Now he hunts a new prey – me. I don’t need psychic powers to know he’s right behind me – closing in – about to strike.
What I Plan to Read Next:
Ascension by Nicholas Binge
All He Has Left by Chad Zunker
Chaos Unlocked by Lana Kole
Physical Books I’ve Picked Up/Been Gifted:
Monstress Volume 2 by Marjorie M. Liu and Sana Takeda
Maika, Kippa, and Ren journey to Thyria in search of answers to her past…and discover a terrible new threat.
Monstress Volume 3 by Marjorie M. Liu and Sana Takeda
Maika has spent most of her life learning how to fight, but how will she fare when the only way to save her life… is to make friends?
And that’s all I have for now.
Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my post, I hope you found a book or two that interest you!

Apparently the year is traveling in hyperdrive!
It does feel that way, doesn’t it?
You read a lot, Sheri, and I’m always interested in what you have on your shelf. And it was a delight to see The Necromancer’s Daughter in the mix. Yay. Thank you for that kindness and Happy Reading!
I used to read a lot more but life seems more demanding now. And thank you! We seem to have similar taste in books because I’m forever stealing yours.
And I have a feeling The Necromancer’s Daughter will be sticking with me for a long time so you’ll probably be seeing it often. 😆
Any plans for a second book?
No for my stand alones. Once they’re done, they’re done. I read an article by fantasy writer Mark Lawrence years ago where he said not to force a story to go on when it’s done because it’s never as good. It seemed like good advice. Working on a new one though. 🙂
It’s okay.. I’m only crying on the inside. 😋
Just kidding! (sort of) That actually makes a lot of sense. Besides. I have so many others to fall in love with.
And you are, are you? Do you discuss books you’re in the middle of writing or do you prefer to keep it a surprise?
I’m always delighted to put teasers out there. Especially when I need to post something and the mind is drawing a blank. Lol
That makes sense but as much as I’d like to know what you’re cooking up.. I wouldn’t hope a blank day on any writer.
So sorry for the late response!
