A Poem for Spring: William Wordsworth

A beautiful poem to welcome the Spring!

Spring is a time for celebration, time to welcome in new life and new beginnings, a time when everything is flush with possibilities.

I don’t know about you but here.. it’s so beautiful out.
It makes me want to go outside, breathe in all of the new life around me, and take a moment to just.. let myself be at peace.
Unfortunately.. Pollen has dusted everything.
The bees are buzzing, the birds are singing, and everyone in the south now faces an epic battle for clear sinuses!
Time to mainline those antihistamines!

Anyway..
This poem has quietly percolated in the back of my mind for some time now and I’m excited to finally share it.

I am absolutely a fan of William Wordsworth’s remarkable writing. His poetry speaks to me. Wordsworth’s admiration for nature is apparent throughout his poetry, capturing the complexity of life as expressed through his splendidly lyrical works.

Now, don’t let me keep you. Enjoy!

Lines Written in Early Spring

I heard a thousand blended notes,
While in a grove I sate reclined,
In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts
Bring sad thoughts to the mind.

To her fair works did Nature link
The human soul that through me ran;
And much it grieved my heart to think
What man has made of man.

Through primrose tufts, in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And ’tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.

The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:—
But the least motion which they made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.

The budding twigs spread out their fan,
To catch the breezy air;
And I must think, do all I can,
That there was pleasure there.

If this belief from heaven be sent,
If such be Nature’s holy plan,
Have I not reason to lament
What man has made of man?

    I love spring with the sun shining, the warmer days where I only wear a light jacket or sweater, the green shoots popping up and the birds singing in the trees. I do love summer though with the hot days where I can go in my pool.

      I love the gentle smell of freshly bloomed flowers, light breezes brushing the heat off your skin, and the feeling of life coming back to the world.
      Summer means mosquito’s! But it would be great to swim..
