Site Update: Moving to a New Domain!

Exciting Announcement:
My blog will be moving to BlueHost!

But First: Happy Father’s Day weekend, everyone!

There’s a lot to celebrate this weekend! Thanks to the hard work and continued support of my wonderful husband.. My site will be getting a slight upgrade.

Currently: you can find me at www.ReadBetwixtWords.wordpress.com
Soon: my site will be moving to www.ReadBetwixtWords.com

I chose to use Bluehost, one of the largest hosting providers in 2021, launching millions of websites worldwide.

Through Bluehost, signing up took minutes, and with all the tools and options available.. my site will soon be up and running on its own two little feet. At 60% off we were able to cut back on quite a bit in yearly fees, too..

Click the link below to check out Bluehost for yourself!

Yes.. I do realize I sound like a bad commercial, my apologies, this really was put into motion last minute and we’re learning as we go. In the meantime, this shouldn’t affect those visiting my page, if you experience any difficulty accessing my blog or posts.. Please let me know.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Congrats on going to a hosted site. My blog (https://maeclair.net)is on the free side of WordPress, but I use Bluehost to host my website MaeClair.com. I love Bluehost. It’s so easy to use!

Hopefully soon! It appears we’ve hit a small snag but nothing that should effect the blog. Nothing ventured, right?
      Thank you!!

Good luck getting it all sorted Sheri.🙂

Thank you, that’s really nice of you! 🌹

  3. Once you move if you have to move everything, you’ll see what needs adjustment. When I moved my art blog to a self-hosted website (I also use Bluehost, there were not that many choices back then), the adjustments took me about 2 years. Partially that was because I had very many posts (I’ve deleted quite a few now) and very many pictures, and some were missing, some misplaced, lots had different attributes to them. I believe you will have all comments still, but all likes will go away, unless it’s better nowadays. That time Jetpack told me likes do not move. I personally lost about 2K followers, too, but it might be better now and you will get them all back.
Self-hosted website simply gives one more freedom.
I’m slowly converting all blog posts to block editor posts. I find it’s easier to use actually. There are some flaws, but I am learning to work around these.
Congratulations on your own piece of the internet space!

Oh, wow, I did not know all of that. I did consider that adjustments would have to be made and that likes(as you said) wouldn’t transfer over, but I was alright with that.. I’m not here to win a popularity contests. But I did not realize there might be so much disarray. Thank you for the warning. Now, hopefully, I’ll have a good idea of what to look out for.
I do know a lot of the jetpacks and add ons are supposed to help the transition go more smoothly so.. I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and see what happens.
My husband has been helping me so much, he’s the one who’s been setting everything up and getting it moved over, I’m very lucky.
Thank you for all the help, I really do appreciate it! It’s exciting.. starting something new.
Stay safe and have a lovely weekend!

Congratulations on the move and the new domain! I’ve been through all of this so if you need any help feel free to reach out- I know it can be a complicated process and things can occasionally go wrong. It’s also frustrating at first to have to do everything yourself. I would also recommend getting some security plugins as soon as possible- WP takes care of that but since you’re now self-hosted you’ll need your own security plugins.

Oh, wow, that’s so nice of you. There have been a couple hiccups but I am really fortunate.. my husband has been helping me so much. We don’t really know what we’re doing so, thank you, I may need to take you up on that offer. Thank goodness we haven’t run into anything too serious.
And I’ll be sure to get right on that, security is definitely important, thank you again! 😅🌹
