My ‘To Be Read’ Books for May 2022

Newly released and ‘Coming Soon’ books for my May TBR

Hello, again!

May’s a bit of a busy month around here so I’ll be keeping my TBR pretty short.
Four books and fingers crossed.

All of these are new releases or soon-to-be released and all of them are mystery or suspense novels.
(Which are two of the main genres I’m ‘into’ at the moment so.. I’m really excited and pleased to have this opportunity to read them )
There’s not going to be a lot of time over the next month for reading, too many real world responsibilities, which leaves me trying to get a jump on them a little early.

Anyway!
Read on, my fellow book loving friend!
Find something you like and add it to your ever growing TBR list!
(I won’t tell if you don’t)

SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE FROM NETFLIX AND ACADEMY AWARD-WINNING DIRECTOR KATHRYN BIGELOW

In Aurora, Illinois, Aubrey Wheeler is just trying to get by after her semi-criminal ex-husband split, leaving behind his unruly teenage son.

Then the lights go out—not just in Aurora but across the globe. A solar storm has knocked out power almost everywhere. Suddenly, all problems are local, very local, and Aubrey must assume the mantle of fierce protector of her suburban neighborhood.

Across the country lives Aubrey’s estranged brother, Thom. A fantastically wealthy, neurotically over-prepared Silicon Valley CEO, he plans to ride out the crisis in a gilded desert bunker he built for maximum comfort and security.

But the complicated history between the siblings is far from over, and what feels like the end of the world is just the beginning of several long-overdue reckonings—which not everyone will survive . . .

On a humid summer day in Alabama, a mayor’s wife turns up brutally murdered under a railroad bridge. Standing next to her body is fourteen-year-old Mason Hill, the autistic son of former Miss USA Genevieve Hill. The locals are quick to level their verdict on young Mason: he did it.

The town detective calls in local autism expert Casey Walker to consult on the case. At first, Casey tries to keep an open mind. But the more time she spends with Genevieve, the more her unease grows, and she suspects that Genevieve is doing more than just protecting her son.

Casey’s misgivings surrounding Genevieve’s story only intensify when she meets Savannah, Genevieve’s nineteen-year-old daughter. Savannah, as it turns out, has some disturbing secrets of her own. But as Casey dives ever deeper into the Hill family dynamic, her search for the truth leads to another shocking murder—one that shatters her understanding of the human condition in ways she never imagined.

Deadman Lake. Pristine and picturesque, nestled in the Cariboo Mountains of Northern British Columbia. Radiant and warm in the summertime, cold and unforgiving in the winter. For the few year-round residents living on the shores of the lake, this is the norm. They have become accustomed to the changing seasons and have learned to adapt. But this year an unseasonably early blizzard dumps two feet of snow overnight, cutting the small group off from any form of civilization. And with the snow comes a terrifying danger none of them could ever have imagined.
A plane hurtles out of the dark sky and crashes into the forest. From the wreckage emerges one of the most powerful killers to ever walk the planet. An eight-hundred-pound nightmare of perfect fury that is ruled by a single unnatural instinct: an unrelenting hatred of MAN. Driven through the snowbound trees by a need for vengeance that can never be satisfied, it will continue to hunt and devour until all that walk on two legs have been destroyed.
There is a judgement coming for the people of Deadman, and, young or old, guilty or innocent, all will be punished.

Luke Nolan has led the Hope congregation for more than a decade, while his wife and daughters have patiently upheld what it means to live righteously. Made famous by a viral sermon on purity co-written with his eldest daughter, Abigail, Luke is the prototype of a modern preacher: tall, handsome, a spellbinding speaker. But his younger daughter Caroline has begun to notice the cracks in their comfortable life. She is certain that her perfect, pristine sister is about to marry the wrong man—and Caroline has slid into sin with a boy she’s known her entire life, wondering why God would care so much about her virginity anyway.

When it comes to light, five weeks before Abigail’s wedding, that Luke has been lying to his family, the entire Nolan clan falls into a tailspin. Caroline seizes the opportunity to be alone with her sister. The two girls flee to the ranch they inherited from their maternal grandmother, far removed from the embarrassing drama of their parents and the prying eyes of the community. But with the date of Abigail’s wedding fast approaching, the sisters will have to make a hard decision about which familial bonds are worth protecting.
