Adult Fiction Books to Read

Because we all need more supernatural fiction books for the TBR pile, right?

Here are some more kick butt ladies in fiction. Demons, werewolves, vampires, and more.

As with all things, personal preference will be the deciding factor but.. These are all really great books, they are all the first in a series, and each offers something different to get lost in.

Enjoy!

Working for the Devil by Lilith Saintcrow

“Take my advice, Valentine. Run. Run as fast as you can, for as long as you can. Steal whatever bit of life you can. You’re already dead.”

Look no further than ‘Working for the Devil’ for your next dive into an action packed, demonic ride into urban fiction. Dante ‘Danny’ Valentine is a damn good bounty hunter, manipulated into her next job by Lucifer himself, she’s off on the hunt for a rogue demon that stole an artifact.. and The Devil wants it back.  Stuck with an untrustworthy demon familiar who’s more likely to kill, and a group of strange psychics. Dante might not get out of this alive.

Red-Headed Stepchild by Jaye Wells

“By now, I should have learned that luck, if she was a lady, was a mean-spirited bitch with a grudge against me.”

She’s has mixed blood, part mage, and part vampire.. with serious authority issues. An assassin trained to follow orders without remorse, Sabina is sent to spy on the opposition, betraying a friend in the process. But the longer it takes to fulfill her duty, the more she questions whether she’s fighting for the right side.

Magic Lost, Trouble Found by Lisa Shearin

“Most girls get flowers or candy. I get a declaration of martial law.

Raine Benares is trouble and she just bit off more than she can chew. From a long line of thieves, her gift of finding things isn’t all that glamorous, she’s used to being average. Until she helps a friend who has taken an ancient, soul stealing amulet that might now be possessing her, from a hoard of angry goblins. Now her magic has a boost but.. what will it cost her?

Kitty and The Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn

I punched to line. “Yes? What?”
“Norville. It’s Cormac. If you don’t change the subject right now, I’m going to have to go over there and have a word with you.”

Kitty Norville is a midnight DJ and, ironically enough, a werewolf.. but she’ll just keep that to herself. Her late night talk show for the supernaturals of Denver gives many a place to safely voice their frustrations and, while most find her harmless, some recognize the danger she represents. Exposure. Threats are made, attempts on her life are made but.. This Kitty won’t go down without a fight.

I love it when the character can save herself and make you laugh while doing it!
